ジョンは、おじに言われた用事を済ませ、やがて部屋へ呼ばれる。屋敷には弁護士も訪ねてきている。朝の食卓での出来事から続く、おじの一連の行動には、どんな理由があるのか。部屋に入った少年の目に何が映ったのかを、青年は落ち着いて語り続ける。
