"Boscombe Valley is a country district not very far from Ross, in Herefordshire.「ボスコム谷は、ヘリフォードシャーのロスからさほど遠くない田園地帯だ。
The largest landed proprietor in that part is a Mr. John Turner, who made his money in Australia and returned some years ago to the old country.その地方で最も広い土地を持つのは、ジョン・ターナーという人で、オーストラリアで財を成し、何年か前に故国へ戻ってきた。
