水圧機の内部を調べていたハザリー氏は、大佐の説明に疑問を抱く。背後に立つ男へ、見つけたものについて皮肉を口にした瞬間、空気が変わる。大佐の顔は硬くなり、青年は自分の一言をすぐ後悔する。狭い部屋の扉が閉じられようとしている。
