約束した翌朝、ベイカー街では早くから面会の支度が整っている。モーティマーはヘンリー・バスカヴィル卿を連れて来ることになっている。昨日は本人のいないところで案じられていた相続人が、いまホームズたちの前へ姿を現そうとしている。

Our breakfast table was cleared early, and Holmes waited in his dressing-gown for the promised interview.朝食の卓は早く片づけられ、ホームズはガウン姿で約束の面会を待った。
