ホームズと仲間たちは、屋敷へ続く道を進む。レストレードにも、まだ詳しく聞いていない点がある。周囲の暗さを意識しながら、一行は声を落として歩こうとしている。よく知る道でも夜になれば印象が変わり、土地に慣れない仲間には、周りを確かめる必要がある。
