Japanese in this scene

ので
ので gives a reason in a relatively explanatory, neutral way: “because; since.” It often sounds softer than から.
と
と after a complete statement can mark a quotation: “that….” It also means “with” between nouns, so the surrounding grammar matters.
に
に marks a target, destination, time, recipient, or resulting state. Its exact English equivalent depends on the predicate it accompanies.
は
は marks the topic of a sentence and can also set up a contrast with another item.

Background

Hunting crop
A hunting crop is a short riding whip with a heavy handle. Holmes sometimes carries one for protection and can use it as an effective weapon.

Full text: original English and Japanese translation

"It's all clear," he whispered. "Have you the chisel and the bags? Great Scott! Jump, Archie, jump, and I'll swing for it!"

「誰もいないぞ」と男はささやいた。「たがねと袋は持ったか?しまった!跳べ、アーチー、跳ぶんだ、おれは縛り首になってもかまわん!」

Sherlock Holmes had sprung out and seized the intruder by the collar. The other dived down the hole, and I heard the sound of rending cloth as Jones clutched at his skirts. The light flashed upon the barrel of a revolver, but Holmes' hunting crop came down on the man's wrist, and the pistol clinked upon the stone floor.

シャーロック・ホームズはすでに飛び出して、侵入者の襟首をつかんでいた。もう一人は穴に飛びこみ、ジョーンズがその上着のすそにつかみかかったので、布の裂ける音が聞こえた。光が拳銃の銃身にきらりと反射したが、ホームズの狩猟用の鞭が男の手首に振り下ろされ、拳銃はかちんと音を立てて石の床に落ちた。
